Overview Training

Kilacha Agriculture and Livestock Training Institute is located in Kilimanjaro region, Moshi Rural District, in the outskirts of Himo town, some 9 Km from Holili, the border town to Kenya. While at the Institute, you can easily enjoy the attractive natural scenery of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The Institute is the subsidiary of Kilacha Agriculture and Livestock Training Centre (KALTC), owned and managed by the Catholic Diocese of Moshi. The Institute was established in 1984 and registered with VETA, originally with only 25 students. In 2008 the Institute was upgraded and received NACTE registration and started conducting the Certificate course in general agriculture using the same syllabus being used by other training institutes under the Ministry of Agriculture. Currently the Institute has a capacity of 700 students.

Hospitality Courses

  1. Certificate in Food Production and Services (Hotel Management)
Entry Requirement

Applicants must have Ordinary Level of Secondary Education.

  1. Certificate in Tour Guiding and Tourism
Entry Requirement

Applicants must have Ordinary Level of Secondary Education.

  1. National Vocational Award Certificate in Animal Husbandry
Entry Requirement

Applicants should have obtained O-Level Secondary Education with passes in at least two science subjects.

Agriculture and Livestock Courses

  1. Diploma in Agriculture Production (DAP)
    Entry Requirements

    An applicant must have one principal pass in science subjects and one subsidiary in his or her A-Level Combination and must have passed at least two (2)  of the following subjects; Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Mathematics and Agriculture with grade “D” in the Ordinary Certificate of Secondary Education and any two other subjects which are not  religious. (Minimum qualification is two Science subjects,  one of which  must be Biology.)

  2. Diploma in Animal Health and Production (DAHP)
        Entry Requirements

      An applicant must have received a Certificate in General   Agriculture (NTA level 5) or a Certificate in Animal Health and Production (NTA level 5) respectively OR a related field and must have an Ordinary Certificate of Secondary Education with at least four passes (4) in non-religious subjects whereas two (2) passes must be in either Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography and Agriculture Science OR be an  A-Level leaver in Science Combination with at least one principal pass and one subsidiary.

  1. Certificate in Agriculture Production (CAP)
    Entry Requirements
    An applicant must have passed at least two (2)  of the following subjects; Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Mathematics and Agriculture with grade “D” in the Ordinary Certificate of Secondary Education and any other subject which is not a religious (Minimum qualification is two  Science subjects, one of which  must be Biology).
  2. Certificate in Animal Health and Production
Entry Requirements

An applicant must have achieved at least four (4) passes in non-religious subjects with two (2) of the subjects in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Mathematics and Agriculture with grade “D” in the ordinary Certificate of Secondary Education. A pass in Biology is compulsory.
